Sugar High" is a gripping narrative that delves into the depths of addiction and escapism through the lens of Thandi, a young woman living in KwaMashu township. Thandi's story is a poignant portrayal of the struggles faced by many individuals who find themselves trapped in the vicious cycle of numbing their pain with unhealthy habits.
At the heart of the story is Thandi's addiction to sugar and television, which serves as her coping mechanism for avoiding the harsh realities of her life. As she indulges in her favourite sweets and immerses herself in her TV show, she becomes increasingly detached from the world around her, unable to confront the challenges and traumas that plague her existence.
